Special Board Meeting in Honoring and Saluting the work of Roger Clarke
KINGSTON, Jamaica… September 2, 2014

Senator Norman Grant, President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society says, “The Jamaica Agricultural Society is hailing the efforts of the St. Catherine Police in the fight against praedial larceny. The action of the Old Harbour police on Saturday night, August 16, 2014 must be commended and congratulated. The apprehension of the suspected goat thieves is being celebrated by the Jamaica Agricultural Society and the farmers of Jamaica as a move in the right direction as the JAS focus on the expansion the agricultural sector.”

Senator Grant says further ,”The Jamaica Agricultural Society will be intensifying the campaign against farm terrorists in Jamaica, who are costing the agricultural sector an estimated $6B annually. The JAS will collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in the Passport and Tracking programme for the cattle industry. The society is also recommending that this programme should also include the goat, sheep and pig sectors. The JAS is calling on all our farmers to register with RADA on the ABIS system and to purchase a receipt book from the JAS and also tell the Police what you know about the thieves in our communities.”

Senator Grant says that in honoring Former Minister Roger Clarke, the JAS will intensify this campaign and effort against praedial thieves.

The JAS will hold its first monthly Board of Directors’ meeting after their Annual General Meeting of July 9, 2014; the Denbigh Agricultural Show August 1, 2 and 3, 2014 and the passing of Minister Clarke on August 28, 2014; this will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the head office and will commence earlier, at 8:30 a.m. The first 1 ½ hour will be used to pay tribute to Honourable Roger Clarke, a condolence book will also be opened, at the JAS, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. The JAS will also use the occasion to present the Denbigh Winners to the Board and the JAS will also be signing a MOU with COK in the official launch of the JAS-COK FARMERS PENSION PLAN. Power 106 will also be having an outside Broadcast at the Head Office of the JAS 67 Church Street
